GENERAL INFORMATION

ET 4J-1 ENERGY TESTER
The ET4J-1 Energy Tester is a small convenient device used in the field to provide a Go/No-Go test of the energy output of the CD450-4J and CD450-4J-M blasting machines. The energy tester connects directly to the terminals of the blasting machine without the need for test leads or wires. A light emitting diode (LED) flashes briefly when the energy output of the blasting machine under test is equal to or greater than 100% rated energy. The energy tester is powered by the output of the blasting machine and does not contain batteries.

OPERATION

Connect the two tab terminals on the tester to the terminals on the blasting machine by placing the tab under the shoulder of the blasting machine terminal and tightening securely. Observe the polarity indicated on the tester (RD tab to RED terminal and BK tab to BLACK terminal). Fire the blasting machine and watch the ENERGY OK light on the tester. The ENERGY OK light will flash briefly if the output energy of the blasting machine is 100% or greater. No flash indicates that the blasting machine energy output may be low, and the blasting machine should be removed from service and tested in a laboratory using established procedures utilizing an oscilloscope and a load resistor.
