Cave-ins and explosives are not the only hazards present in mining sites. An ever present safety hazard in both surface and underground mines is site traffic. Vehicles used in hauling cargo can pose a serious threat to other miners especially if there are no markers to guide the drivers. Using traffic control signs in and around the mining site can help regulate site traffic by controlling vehicle speed and segregating pedestrian and vehicle pathways.
